Outdoor Education Teacher:
At FCS, an Elementary Outdoor Education (OE) teacher is a grade level teacher who facilitates learning experiences in an indoor/outdoor environment to meet the needs of all learners. Grade level OE teachers use the outdoors as an extension of their classroom and nature as the curriculum while meeting the grade-level standards. OE teachers make it a goal to provide daily outdoor learning experiences including both grade level content and allowing time for nature play and exploration. This position has the opportunity to collaborate with the other OE teachers in grades K-5 along with support from the OE director.
OE standards teachers are responsible for:
Earth Keepers and Creation Enjoyers
Students respond to God’s call to care for creation. Students actively pursue renewal and restoration in God’s creation. Students take joy in creation and see how creation points us back to our creator.
Indoor/Outdoor Learning
OE is inquiry-based, real-world, experiential learning. It offers both an indoor/outdoor environment to meet the needs of all learners while also meeting the grade-level standards. Outdoor Education students spend an extra 5-10 hours outside per week.

Education Requirements
FCS is looking for candidates that have a B.A. in Education and a current teaching certificate.
