SERVICE PROJECTS

Our mission statement here at Fremont Christian School is “Glorifying God by Educating and Nurturing Students to Impact the World for Christ.” Educating our students goes beyond textbooks and exams, but expands to teaching our students to be aware of the world around them and how to be God’s light in that world. We strive to build a foundation of service in each of our students that they can take with them as they graduate to use to continue impacting the world for Christ. Jesus was the ultimate servant and He calls us to follow His example.

Below are some examples of how FCS staff and students annually serve our surrounding communities:

FCS Canter Run

To help stock TrueNorth's food pantry, every year our 3rd-8th grade students run a two-mile race and collect canned goods to subtract minutes off their finishing time. Younger students cheer on the staff and student runners and collect canned goods to earn extra recess/break time!

Community Leaf Raking

At the end of fall, staff and students serve the Fremont community by walking around town and raking leaves where needed. This is a yearly event at FCS and includes students of all ages working alongside each other, and often many parent volunteers as well, searching out those that could be blessed with a little extra help with their yard work.

Serving at True North

This past year, the 7th grade went to True North and bagged over 400 power packs for kids in need. These food packs get distributed to Newaygo County schools who then get them in the hands of the students in need. The power packs are put together with nutritious, simple-to-make meals for these students to have on the weekends where they don't have school lunch to rely on. 7th grade also stocked food pantry shelves, refrigerators, freezers, sorted through produce, organized donated products, and worked in the kitchen bagging up tortillas to distribute in taco kits.

Reflections from students:
"It made me feel wonderful and grateful for what I have. I wish we could go help every week."
"It made me happy knowing I was doing something for others, and not just myself."
"I truly felt like we were the hands and feet of Jesus."

Profe Carolina, Kinder Spanish Immersion’s deep hope for her students is that they can grow in wisdom and grace from God to serve and impact the world. They have been learning how they can be growing like Jesus serving others and impacting their local community.

Señor Chuchoque, 2nd grade Spanish Immersion’s deep hope for his students is for us to humbly know and reflect on who we are in the world. Show respect and help others as we are part of a BIGGER story, HIS story. The students are finding out who they are, why Jesus put them here in the world, how they can help others and show the love of God.

Since October, both classes have been selling snacks to the school every Wednesday, raising money to donate to Hand2Hand in Fremont, Michigan. On December 14, (with the money raised) they went to Walmart, bought food and took it to the Inspire Church, which is where the Hand2Hand pantry is located in Fremont. The children also made encouragement notes to put inside the bags. They were very excited because they are serving our local community. They will continue selling the snacks every Wednesday and before the school year ends will do it again.
